Bellator 38 airs live on MTV2 at 7 p.m. ET to kick off their light heavyweight tournament with four quarterfinal bouts. The show features Tim Carpenter vs. Daniel Gracie, D.J. Bellator 38 Results: Tim Carpenter Edges Out Decision Over Daniel Gracie

This is the live blog for Tim Carpenter vs. Daniel Gracie. Tim Carpenter is 6-0 in MMA. He last defeated Jamal Patterson at Bellator 33. Daniel Gracie is 5-2-1 in MMA. He returned from a four-year absence from the sport at Israel FC: Genesis on November 9th, where he beat Martin Wojcik by rear-naked choke.

Round 1 - Our referee for this contest is Dave Ferguson. Carpenter misses with a leg kick. Gracie lands an outside legkick. Now an inside. Now outside. Right hand from Carpenter drops Gracie. Gracie has full guard, controlling posture. Carpenter is half-guard now. Throwing short punches. Carpenter going body-head. Gracie trying to sit up, but Carpenter uses the fence to keep him pinned down. Carpenter uses strikes to mount. Gracie rolling, but rolls into an armbar. Gracie slips out, and ends up on top of Carpenter. Forty-five seconds left. Gracie passes into side control. Knee on belly. Punches from standing. Gracie gives up an arm with ten seconds to go. He pulls out and lands punches as the round ends.

Round 2 - Gracie comes out aggressive to start the round. He has Carpenter pressed up against the fence. Gracie has an over-under body lock. Carpenter spins and has Gracie on the fence. Gracie tries a hip throw, but can't finish. Knee to the body from Carpenter. Nice left hand from Carpenter. Short rights from Gracie. They disengage. Nice leg kick from Gracie. Carpenter trips Gracie, and he has back control. Gracie rolls, grabs a single, and has Carpenter on his back. Nice upkick from Carpenter to a standing Gracie. Gracie's been bleeding for the last couple minutes. Nice right hand from Gracie. Passes to half-guard. Kimura attempt is short-lived for Carpenter. Thirty seconds left in the round. Gracie with nice punches to the body.

Bellator 38 Results: D.J. Linderman Batters Raphael Davis Over Three Rounds

This is the live blog for D.J. Linderman vs. Raphael Davis. Linder is 8-1 in MMA, and riding a three-fight winning streak. Davis is 10-1 in MMA, and hasn't lost since September of 2006. This is the third quarterfinal fight of the light heavyweight tournament.

Round 1 - The referee for this bout is Jason Herzog. They trade punches to open. Linderman shrugs off a takedown attempt. Nice jab from Linderman. Left hand to the body. Clinch, and Davis lands a good knee. Thai plum now, and Davis is landing very good knees. Punches to the body. Linderman disengages. Davis ducks under a punch for a takedown, but he eats follow up punches from Linderman. Thai clinch up against the fence for Davis. Good knee to the body. And another. Nice uppercut. Linderman responding with punches. Big knee to the head from Davis. Linderman having a tough time dealing with the Thai clinch. Another big knee. Linderman grabs a hold of a leg and puts Davis on the mat. Front headlock, Davis gets back to his feet, and they disengage. Big punches from Linderman. Davis presses him up against the fence. Ninety seconds left in the round. Off the fence now. Linderman landing with the left hand. Nice right from Linderman, and he follows up with a knee to the body. Inside leg kick from Davis. Nice left hand from Linderman. He has Davis hurt. Linderman grabs the neck and drops down for a guillotine. Davis pops his head free, and the round ends.

This is close to get stopped. Linderman just shoves him to the floor. Davis turtles, Linderman follows up with punches, and Jason Herzog is forced to step in and halt the bout.

Bellator 38 Results: Richard Hale Pulls Out An Inverted Triangle On Nik Fekete

This is the live blog for Richard Hale vs. Nik Fekete. Hale is 15-3-1 in MMA, and has won his last two fights. Fekete is 4-0 in MMA, training out of Xtreme Couture. This is the second quarterfinal bout  for the light heavyweight tournament of the evening.

Round 1 - Our referee for this bout is Jason Herzog. Hale opens with a jab. Fekete ducks under a jab. Hale with a shot to the body. Fekete misses with a punch, and Fekete responds with a combination. Fekete shoots a single leg, lifts Hale up off his feet, and plants him on the mat in side control. Hale swings his leg over, and grabs an inverted triangle. Body shots from Hale. Jason Herzog steps in. Nik Fekete is asleep. Impressive stuff. Good job from Herzog recognizing that Fekete had gone out. 

Richard Hale defeats Nik Fekete by technical submission (inverted triangle) at 1:55 of round one.

Bellator 38 Results: Christian M'Pumbu Comes Back To Knock Out Chris Davis In Round Three

This is the live blog for Chris Davis vs. Christian M'Pumbu. Davis is 10-2 in MMA, and enters this fight on a three-fight winning streak. M'Pumbu is 15-3-1 in MMA, and lost his last fight to Yoshiyuki Nakanishi at DEEP 47.

Round 1 - Our referee for this bout is Mike Cain. M'Pumbu opens with a leg kick. The two trade punches in wild exchanges. M'Pumbu grabs the Thai plum and lands a knee to the body. He loses the position and Davis has him up against the fence. M'Pumbu spins, lands a knee, and then puts Davis on the mat with a single leg. M'Pumbu with punches, but Davis grabs his leg and puts M'Pumbu on the mat. M'Pumbu look for a knee, but he doesn't get it. Davis ends up on his back in the scramble. One hook in, but he transitions into mount. Halfway through the round. Davis lands a couple good punches before M'Pumbu gives up his back. Big punches now in a half-mount. M'Pumbu escapes into guard. He's got a triangle. Adjusts the position, but still doesn't have the position. Davis stacks and forces M'Pumbu to give it up. Guard now. Ten seconds left. The round ends with Davis on top.

Round 2 - Davis opens with a low kick. M'Pumbu responds in turn. Nice jab from M'Pumbu. Referee Mike Cain calls time to replace M'Pumbu's mouthpiece. Leg kick from Davis, and now he puts M'Pumbu on the mat. M'Pumbu with shots from the bottom. Davis tries to pass into mount and M'Pumbu sweeps. M'Pumbu gives up the position, and now gives up his back. M'Pumbu tries to roll, which allows Davis to get one hook in. M'Pumbu steps over, and grabs a kneebar. He has it for a moment, but Davis kicks his leg free. Davis takes the back again with one hook in. Half-guard now. Davis hasn't looked to strike much at all here. Hammer fists from Davis are partially blocked by M'Pumbu. M'Pumbu explodes, and now he has Davis down with his back exposed. Davis stands. Thirty seconds left in the round. M'Pumbu tries to drag Davis down, but ends up on the bottom. The round ends with in an awkward leg-in triangle position.

Round 3 - M'Pumbu opens with jabs. Right uppercut. Just misses with a left hook. Another right hand from M'Pumbu. Davis dives in with a lazy takedown, and M'Pumbu makes him pay. Davis is tiring. M'Pumbu has his back, landing measured punches. Two good left hands from M'Pumbu. Davis back to his feet. He's bleeding now. Two good shots from M'Pumbu. Another lazy shot from Davis. M'Pumbu has his back again. Nice right hand from M'Pumbu. Two more good lefts. Nice knee to the body. Ninety seconds left. Referee Mike Cain steps in to stop the bout. Not sure if Davis tapped, because it didn't look like Davis was finished. Davis isn't complaining. Replay shows Davis going limp after a punch.
