The second fight at UFC Fight Night 24 is a middleweight tilt between Aaron Simpson and Mario Miranda. Simpson was hoping to rebound after a loss to Chris Leben as well as Mark Munoz. Miranda was hoping to have a better showing than he did against Demian Maia.
The story of this fight turned out to be the wrestling of Aaron Simpson. Coincidentally, this is precisely how Maia was able to avoid the considerable stand-up skills of Miranda as well. In Simpson's case, the former Division I wrestler was able to take down Miranda at will. He even scored a questionable spike in the second.
The third was more of the same. Simpson's superior wrestling and clinch wrestling paved the way for a workmanlike win. It was a dominating performance and given the strong liabilities of Miranda when it comes to the ground game, expect the middleweight fighter to be cut from the UFC.
UFC Fight Night 24 results: Aaron Simpson def. Mario Miranda via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26)
