UFC Fight Night 24 Results: Phil Davis Vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira Round 1

The main event of UFC Fight Night 24 is Phil Davis vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Tito Ortiz was originally scheduled to face Nogueira, but was forced to withdraw due to injury. Most experts heading into this bout believe Davis could one day challenge Jon Jones for the UFC light heavyweight title. I certainly concur with that sentiment, but it should be noted Nogueira should provide a much tougher fight than most expect.

The referee in charge of this bout is

ROUND 1 - Nogueira comes out southpaw and Davis already feinting level changes while pawing distances. Two head kick attempts from Davis and the second land. The third does, too. Takedown attempt from Davis initally stuffed and he abandons the effort. Davis times a nice shot under a straight right from Nogueira, but is rebuffed. Another shot stuffed by Nogueira after a head kick attempt from Davis. More of the same as Davis cannot take Nogueira down. Straight left for Nogueira

SBNation.com scores this round 10-9 Davis.
