UFC On Versus 3 Results: Danny Castillo Upsets Joe Stevenson

The first Facebook fight of the night at UFC on Versus 3 is Joe Stevenson vs. Danny Castillo. This lightweight battle is the UFC debut for "Team Alpha Male" member Castillo. Stevenson, meanwhile, is coming in off two consecutive losses to George Sotiropoulos and Mac Danzing.

The referee in charge of the action is Gary Copeland.

ROUND 1 - Both fighters stand orthodox. Switch kick from Castillo is blocked. Stevenson double jabs but fires no cross. Stevenson feints a shot and Castillo fires a jumping knee. A failed shot from Castillo causes Stevenson to force Castillo against the cage and fires off a few knees. A massive high crotch lift with a slam for Castillo. Castillo, however, lands a beautiful hip bump and the fighters stand. Stevenson jumps guard as Castillo presses him into the fence, attempts a no-arm guillotine, but it goes nowhere. Stevenson sits up underneath for a guillotine, but can't get it. The fighters stand. Double leg takedown for Castillo, Stevenson attempts another takedown, but can't get it. Castillo attempts a cradle to keep Stevenson on the floor, but it doesn't work. Off a body shot a left hook and right hand lands for Castillo. Inside leg kick for Castillo and a missed flying knee.

ROUND 2 - Jab from Stevenson and two wild punches from Castillo miss. Stevenson is in the center of the Octagon. Right hand lead misses for Castillo. Both fighters trading jabs and again, Castillo lands another nice left hook...plus a leg kick. Stevenson transitions from a double leg to a body lock takedown and it works. Stevenson on top trying to use his instep to pass guard. Castillo recaptures full guard. Elbows from the bottom by Castillo. Castillo uses a leg lock attempt to create space and get behind Stevenson which he follows up as Stevenson stands. Castillo gets a warning from the referee for an inadvertent knee to the head while Stevenson is down.

ROUND 3 - Inside leg kick for Castillo as Stevenson takes the center of the cage. Stevenson tries to rush Castillo to the cage and with double underhooks Castillo reverses. With a knee down Castillo lands several knees to Stevenson's body. Both fighters stand. Knee tap against the fence for Castillo puts Stevenson on the mat. Stevenson scrambles to his feet. A double leg takedown from Castillo puts Stevenson on the mat and another failed guillotine attempt from Stevenson. As Stevenson tries to set up a kneebar, Castillo gets behind Stevenson and lands another takedown. Body lock takedown for Castillo puts Stevenson on the mat with a brief moment in mount for Castillo.
