Weidman lands savage ground and pound including a right elbow that cuts Sakara badly over his forehead. Weidman uses the moments to pass to side control. Sakara tries to shrimp to create distance to recapture guard, but it goes nowhere. Sakara recaptures half guard and then reverses position. Weidman locks up a front head lock, then a double leg and gets the takedown. Sakara creates space and stands up. The fighters exchange leg kicks after the doctor checks Sakara's cut. Big knee by Sakara and he pushes Weidman off for distance. Beautiful shot to the liver by Sakara. And now a right hand.

Weidman working moderate ground and pound, but nothing substantial. Sakara hip bumps and recaptures half guard. The referee stand them back up, a dubious call. Weidman drives Sakara into the cage and gets another takedown. Now in side control. Weidman sitting in postured half guard firing punches from a distance. Weidman struggles for an ankle pick and gets it.
