At the conclusion of the main event for UFC on Versus 3, the judges score this bout 29-28 for Diego Sanchez over Martin Kampmann in a unanimous decision.
Martin Kampmann argued in his post-fight interview with UFC commentator Joe Rogan that he believed he landed the cleaner shots and that Sanchez was mostly missing. Sanchez contended his takedown late in the third plus aggression was enough for him.
This makes two losses in a row for Martin Kampmann and now a two-fight win streak for Diego Sanchez.
I scored the bout for Martin Kampamm. He clearly won the first round and very much lost the second, but the brawling style that won him the second didn't land in the third. Kampmann was much more tactical about keeping his back off of the cage. it should also be noted out of nearly a dozen attempts Kampmann defended all but one takedown attempt and Kampmann was able to stand right away.
It's an unfortunate decision for an otherwise entertaining main event.
