Strikeforce Feijao Vs. Henderson Results: Marc Cofer Choked Out By Mike Whitesel

The second fight of the night at Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson featured a middleweight tilt. Marc Cofer had won his first three before losing three straight heading into this fight. Mitch Whitesel, a journeyman who had lost five straight coming into this fight, was looking for a paycheck.

It turned out, however, that the veteran experience of Whitesel was enough to get the win.

With referee Dan Miragliotta at the helm, the two fighters opened the round trading punches, but soon clinched along the fence. The fighters eventually separated, but only then did Cofer over commit on a punch that allowed Whitesel to close the distance. From there the journeyman was able to land an easy takedown on top. He tried to no avail to throw strikes from there, but as Cofer scrambled Whitesel was able to secure a modified sitting guillotine. Apparently it worked as Cofer was forced to tap.

Strikeforce results: Mitch Whitesel defeated Marc Cofer via submission (guillotine choke) at 3:55 of round one.
