The second fight on the Showtime broadcast at Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson was a middleweight tilt between Tim Kennedy and Melvin Manhoef. Kennedy was looking to rebound after his loss to Ronaldo Souza while Manhoef's last appearance in Strikeforce was a devastating knockout loss to Robbie Lawler.
The referee is Mark Matheny.
ROUND 1- Kennedy comes out faking level changes. He also now takes the center of the cage and shoots immediately. He switches from a double to a single and it goes nowhere. Manhoef actually stopped the takedown. Off an overhand right, Kennedy shot in but Manhoef changed the angle and escaped. Hard outside leg kick from Manhoef. And another on the opposite side. A shot again from Kennedy with no punches. Before Manhoef can stand Kennedy switches to body lock and gets him to the floor. Kennedy moves to mount and now takes Manhoef's back. Kennedy drives his hips down and flattens Manhoef. Kennedy attempts a rear naked choke and it's good.
Strikeforce results: Tim Kennedy defeated Melvin Manhoef via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:41 of round one.
