UFC 129 Results: Ben Henderson Decisions Mark Bocek In Close Affair

The first fight of the night on the pay-per-view broadcast of UFC 129: St. Pierre vs. Shields is Ben Henderson vs. Mark Bocek. This is a lightweight bout (155lbs). This is also Henderson's UFC debut after a career stint in the WEC. Bocek will likely look to submit Henderson.

ROUND 1 - Henderson starts out southpaw and right away Bocek comes in trying to stalk and corner Henderson. Bocek lands a right cross and dives for Henderson's hips against the fence. Henderson stuffs it initially and is clinched with Bocek now along the fence. The two are locked in a pummeling battle with neither man gaining much of an advantage. The referee separates them. Hard right hand again from Bocek as he level changes and drives into Henderson. He's stuffed again and now they separate. Left hand from Henderson nearly lands and they reset. Superman punch to outside leg kick combo works for Henderson on the back end. He does it again and nearly misses again. Bocek drives into the fence and this time switch to a single leg attack and kicks out the post on Henderson. Now in full butterfly guard Bocek working on top. The round ends there.

ROUND 2 - Henderson pumping the jab but not in a way to push Bocek back, only to hold him. Left land lands for Henderson, so Bocek reaches for a single and drives Henderson into the fence. High crotch lift and Henderson is down, but Henderson stands right back up. The referee separates them. Hard outside leg kick from Henderson and now from a knee tap he drives Bocek to the floor. Decent ground and pound thus far from Henderson. Bocek grapevines Henderson's leg to off balance him so they stand. Bocek throws Henderson by and locks up a bicep grip and tries to guillotine. Bocek switches from arm in to just the throat. Henderson has to go back down to escape and does. Now Henderson bombs on Bocek. Bocek reaches down for a takedown and eats a huge shot. Bocek is badly cut.

ROUND 3 - Bocek dives for a double in the center of the cage and gets it. Working from full guard now. Bocek trying to work ground and pound. Henderson goes for an amrbar and uses it to reverse. Hard shots now from Henderson on top. Bocek tries to take Henderson's back and can't quite hold it. Henderson has double underhooks and presses Bocek into the fence. Bocek attempts a knee tap and is tuffed. Henderson tries his own and doesn't get it but lands a few shots. Now Henderson leans into Bocek for a single, turns it into a double and goes back to work. Bocek sits up partially to grab a single but Henderson sprawls hard. The two fighters clinch and Henderson is hurting Bocek with knees to the body. Bocek gets another takedown about 30 seconds before the round ends. Henderson to his knees, but Bocek can't get anything. Close round.
