At UFC 129: St. Pierre vs. Shields the first round of Georges St. Pierre vs. Jake Shields was slow but dominant for the champion. Shields attempted two takedowns, but could get nothing. GSP shows crisp, but reserved striking.
ROUND 2 - Shields is nearly there every time for the right hand. Both fighters still not landing much of anything significant. Another right hand over the top that glances Shields' chin. And another, but this one staggers Shields a little. Again, double jab to overhand right for GSP just slightly off target. Turning side kick pushes Shields back. Crowd getting a little restless from the lack of activity. And again, the overhand right just glances from the Canadian. 45 seconds left and Shields has not shot in on GSP one time throughout the course of two rounds. GSP switches to southpaw and stalks Shields, throws an outside leg kick that sends Shields to the mat.
SBNation.com scores this round 10-9 GSP.
