The first fight of the night on the Showtime broadcast is Shinya Aoki vs. Lyle Beerbohm. This is a lightweight bout and both men entire the cage coming off of losses, albeit Aoki's loss came in a mixed K-1/MMA rules match. The referee in charge of the action is "Big" John McCarthy.
ROUND 1 - Aoki comes out southpaw. Beerbohm in a hunched over stance and clinches with Aoki against the fence. Aoki creates an angle from a two-on-one and lands an outside trip. Aoki takes Beerbohm's back as he bases over. Aoki snakes his arms through and not only lands a rear naked choke, but a neck crank as well. Beerbohm tried to hang on as much possible, but early in the fight with no sweat and full strength the squeeze must've been too much. Beerbohm was forced to tap.
Strikeforce Diaz vs. Daley results: Shinya Aoki defeats Lyle Beerbohm via submission (neck crank) at 1:33 of round 1.
