Bellator 44 airs live on MTV2 at 9 p.m. ET, featuring a non-title fight between Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard and Falaniko Vitale. Bellator 44 Results: Michael Chandler Outworks Patricky Freire To A Decision

This is the live blog for Patricky Freire vs. Michael Chandler. Freire is 9-1, and ended up in the finals with victories over Rob McCullough and Toby Imada. Chandler is perfect in seven fights, defeating Marcin Held and Lloyd Woodard on the road to the finals. The winner of this bout will meet current lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.

Round 1 - Referee Keith Peterson is in charge of this lightweight tournament finale. Pitbull keeps Chandler at bay with a right straight-left hook in the first exchange. Jab, then left hook connects from Chandler, but Pitbull clears space with a monster hook of his own. Another sharp counter combination from Pitbull that backs Chandler up. Pitbull controlling distance with straight punches while Chandler tries to pop in and out with strikes. Lunging left hook whiffs from Chandler, who eats another counter and seems to be struggling with the range. Left kick from Chandler finds the cup, and the referee intervenes so Pitbull can recover from the low blow.

The fight restarts with just over two minutes left, and Pitbull is the more efficient striker with his counters. Straight kick to the midsection lands from Chandler, who then goes to the body, but eats a Pitbull right. Chandler ducks under and shoots for the frist time, but the D1 wrestler is shoved back. Chandler now commits to a double leg that Pitbull sprawls to soundly defend, then circles out and counters. The round ends with Chandler taunting Pitbull.

Round 2 - Round two opens with a bang as Chandler leads aggressively with a combination, then follows with a kick. Pitbull circles out and now presses the attack with a flying knee, Chandler ducks and they clinch up against the fence, and Chandler plants a knee below the belt. We pause again while Pitbull recovers from the unintentional groin shot.

We restart with a little over four minutes left. Pitbull, now bleeding from the mouth, scores a low kick. Chandler relying on the uppercut, still actively dancing in and out of range. Left counter by Pitbull, then he swipes a stiff right. Double jab by Chandler misses, Pitbull throws two punches and Chandler shoots, but Pitbull stuffs it again. Double jab from Chandler again, but Pitbull's jab lands stiff. The left hand of Pitbull is now finding a home on Chandler's advances, but then Chandler scores a left, and Pitbull returns the same strike. Pitbull has a kick caught by Chandler, who holds the leg and transforms it into a takedown around the one minute mark. Ground and pound from Chandler inside Pitbull's guard. Pitbull seeks out the kimura, but Chandler postures up to shake him off and now hammers down some meaningful elbows from the top to close the round.

Round 3 - The lightweight tournament and $100,000 will come down to the final round. We have our third groin shot from Chandler as his opening strike is a left kick directly to Pitbull's cup. The referee takes one point from Chandler for the rule violation, which is warranted, while Pitbull takes his allotted time to recover from the blow.

We restart with Pitbull planting combinations on Chandler, now a straight kick. Chandler shoots for a takedown, but Pitbull digs underhooks with his back against the fence. Chandler gathers himself and lifts Pitbull off the ground and puts him on his back for a strong takedown. In full guard, Chandler buries his head in Pitbull's chest and swings. Pitbull tries to keep his hips busy, but Chandler holds position and then offers some meaningful ground and pound. Pitbull maneuvers for the kimura, then creates space and throws a back-fist. Pitbull stands momentarily, but Chandler scores another takedown from the bodylock. A series of right hands from Chandler ensues, who then switches to short elbows as Pitbull's activity from his back decreases. Another stiff barrage of punches forces Pitbull to grab wrist control, which is answered by a monster elbow from Chandler that lands with a thud.

Bellator 44 Results: Hector Lombard Ends A Dreadful Fight With Falanio Vitale In Round Three

This is the live blog for Hector Lombard vs. Falaniko Vitale. Current Bellator middleweight champion Lombard is 28-2-1 (with 1 no contest), and he hasn't lost a fight since 2006 when he dropped a decision to Gegard Mousasi in Pride. Lombard defeated Alexander Shlemenko by decision in his last bout in Bellator. Vitale has fought since 1999, compiling a 29-9 record over 12 years. He's currently riding a three-fight winning streak.

Round 1 - Big Dan Miragliotta oversees this non-title fight. Bellator middleweight champion Lombard comes out swinging with a right hook then a left kick that Vitale avoids. Lunging right hook from the southpaw Lombard. Slight pause, then a massive overhand from Lombard that Vitale ducks. Body shot from Niko. Two hooks barely miss from Lombard. Another from the champ, but Niko counters with a straight to the body. Straight kick from Vitale, then both fighters mutually connect. Unintentional kick below the belt from Niko, and they pause while Lombard recovers with about 2:30 left.

Vitale is warned by the ref and they restart. Now Vitale hits the lead right hook. They collide and Niko almost catches Lombard with a takedown, but the Olympic Judoka recovers, shoots a takedown of his own that Vitale counters, and Lombard swats a quick combo on the way out of range. Lombard follows a punch in, Vitale counters, Lombard whiffs a big left high kick. Vitale gets off a straight right, then Lombard misses a hook but seems to land on the follow up low kick to close the round.

Round 2 - They touch to open the round. Right hand from Vitale is countered with a big left hook, then Vitale follows his jab toward the clinch, but Lombard shakes him off. Right hand to the body from Vitale. The fighters are methodically trying to find range with surprisingly little action from the dominant champion. Lombard lands a moderate low kick. Vitale pawing with his left jab, then blocks a hard left high kick from the champ. Vitale fakes a level change and swings a left, Lombard evades and scores a counter.

Left hook-straight right combo from Vitale lands and backs Lombard up. Lombard drags Vitale down but he's right back to his feet immediately, and they move to the center and exchange blows. Vitale uppercut misses, Lombard finds the mark with a counter, then two kicks. Standing, we have a stalemate for the most part. High kick is blocked by Vitale as the crowd bellows their lack of enthusiasm for the cautious pace. The round closes with neither fighter demonstrating any advantage.

Round 3 - The crowd boos right as the bell rings to open the final round. Overhand left by Lombard is deflected, then Lombard bounces a left through Vitale's guard. Vitale ducks a Lombard left and throws an uppercut, and the champion's right hook finds Vitale's chin on a clean counter. Vitale drops, wobbles back to his feet, and then slumps back down as the referee intervenes.

Bellator 44 Results: Giedrius Karavackas Traps Sam Oropeza's Arm For The Tap

This is the live blog for Giedrius Karavackas vs. Sam Oropeza.

Round 1 - Referee "Big" Dan Miragliotta starts the action. Oropeza starts southpaw and Karavackas traditional. Long jab y Karavackas, Oropeza lands a body kick. Karavackas backs him up with a flurry. Oropeza throws a flying knee, then a sequence of left high kicks. Karavackas leads with punches and finishes with a high kick of his own, mostly sidestepped by Oropeza, who responds with another left high kick.

They collide and Karavackas has his back with the waist cinch, Oropeza lands a back-elbow to his head. Karavackas looking for a trip or to take the back, then finally powers Oropeza to the mat, but it's only for a moment. Oropeza stands and worms for a kimura counter with Karavackas still around his waist from behind. Karavackas gets another takedown that's quickly reversed by Oropeza, who postures up and alternates strikes from body to head. Huge left hand connects from Oropeza, and he smells blood, relentless now with vicious ground-and-pound from the top as the bell sounds.

Round 2 - Karavackas starts tentative with a bloody nose. Oropeza establishes range with a left high kick, then another. Karavackas looking uncertain. The Lithuanian then charges with a combo and hits the clinch, driving Oropeza against the fence with underhooks. Oropeza defends well and Karavackas lands knees to the body. Oropeza breaks the clinch and takes the center of the cage, thwacking a low kick, then a high kick, and a clean body kick that lands. Now an uppercut by Oropeza, but Karavackas responds with another flurry to usher Oropeza to the cage.

Quick trip by the Judoka, who immediately passes to the side headlock, but Oropeza is slippery and escapes to his feet. Karavackas is relentlessly pursuing, again working his underhooks with Oropeza's back to the fence. Oropeza is being forced to defend constantly, then nails a takedown of his own. The round expires just like the first, with Oropeza landing a series of stiff left hands from Karavackas' guard, shifting the round in his favor by a close margin.

Round 3 - Karavackas charges again with the left-right combo and wraps Oropeza up against the fence when he retreats straight backward. Karavackas drags him down and assumes the top position for the first time with 4:15 to go. Oropeza throws his longs leg up for a submission, but Karavackas postures up and hammers down strikes. Side-headlock position after Karavackas passes his guard, and holds a neck crank while smashing unhindered blows to Oropeza's face. Karavackas has Oropeza's left arm trapped with his leg while throwing a barrage of punches, then switches back to tweaking Oropeza's neck. Karavackas brutal control and punishment by Karavackas to the helpless Oropeza, who tries to squirm free with no success.

Using his legs, Karavackas is now working a shoulder lock with the trapped arm, then he re-positions and cranks it hard to elicit the the unorthodox tapout.

Bellator 44 Results: Alexander Shlemenko Edges Brett Cooper By Unanimous Decision

This is the live blog for Alexander Shlemenko vs. Brett Cooper. Alexander Shlemenko is 38-7, and is the winner of Bellator's season two middleweight tournament. He lost the earned title fight against Hector Lombard. Brett Cooper is 13-6. He won his last fight in Bellator, defeating Matt Major by TKO.

Round 1 - Cooper comes out with an aggressive combo, then a high kick. Shlemenko connects on a nice counter. Spinning backfist by Shlemenko partially blocked, Cooper shoots but Shlemenko circles out of range. Shlemenko finding the range with his left hook, then again as he corners Cooper against the cage. Another Cooper shot is stuffed. Spinning back-kick connects from Shlemenko. Short right elbow, then another spinning backfist from the Russian. Shlemenko nails a spinning back-kick, then bombs a spinning back-fist. Cooper returns fire and pops Shlemenko, who recovers and drives Cooper to the mat. Cooper gets to his knees and shoots on the standing Shlemenko, and eventually gets back to his feet. Another spinning back-fist from Shlemenko, who closes the round in control. Might be a 10-8 if Cooper hadn't clocked him with the counter.

Round 2 - Cooper shoots and it's stuffed, and Shlemenko throws a few shots as Cooper turtles. They're back standing. Cooper with the winding uppercut, then catches the cup with a low left kick. Spinning back-kick by the Russian, then a clean left hook. Shlemenko closes distance with a combo and grabs the clinch with Cooper against the fence.

Cooper still aggressive, then lands a nice right hand and now presses Shlemenko against the fence. Slight pause in action as Cooper holds Shlemenko against the fence from behind while throwing knees. Cooper transitions from underhooks to takedown attempts, then back to landing knees again. Cooper turning the tide now with control and activity. Shlemenko spins out and takes the top position, bombing a forearm to Cooper in his guard. They separate and stand, and it's the spinning back-fist again for Shlemenko. Cooper anticipates it next time, and ducks under to force a clinch, then goes for a single, now transitioning to Shlemenko's back. They trade punches until the bell. Close round with arguments for both or a 10-10.

Round 3 -The final frame starts with another spinning back-fist by Shlemenko, then a nice three-piece combo. Another spinning back-fist that hits air. Cooper's pace seriously slowed. Spinning back-fist again, this time connecting. Shlemenko advancing with punches, cornering Cooper, then another spinning back-fist. Shlemenko sprawls on a slow Cooper shot, then stands and counters. Spinning back-fist whiffs again. Cooper wades forward and Shlemenko ducks for a body lock, but lets it go and counters again. Cooper eats a knee and turtles. Cooper's punches are in slow motion and not even close. Spinning back fist again.

Shlemenko cleaves a short left elbow with Cooper backed up. Cooper scores an uppercut and stays in the fight. Two more uppercuts by Cooper, then a straight right. Cooper uppercut again. Shlemenko grabs the Thai plum, but lets it go as the fight ends. Close to another 10-8 round, but Cooper's surprising surge of uppercuts makes it a 10-9.

Bellator cancelled a fourth bout between Anthony Morrison and Bryan Goldsby after Morrison failed to make weight.
