At the Bell Centre in Montreal, the 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins was attempting to become the oldest man to ever win a major boxing championship. Standing in his way was the man he fought to a controversial draw in Decmeber, Jean Pascal.
Round three saw the action, which had been slow for the first two rounds, pick up. Pascal drilled Hopkins early in the round getting Bernard's attention. Just a few seconds later, it was Hopkins landing a brutally hard right hand that appeared to hurt Pascal.
As Bernard tried to capitalize on the right hand he was held by Pascal even as the ref attempted to separate the fighters. Hopkins wasn't able to follow up and put his foe down and by the end of the round Pascal had his legs back and fired a nice flurry as the bell sounded.
SB Nation scored the round 10-9 Hopkins. Making the fight 29-28 Pascal on our card after three rounds.
