At the Bell Centre in Montreal, the 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins was attempting to become the oldest man to ever win a major boxing championship. Standing in his way was the man he fought to a controversial draw in Decmeber, Jean Pascal.
Early in round nine Hopkins would land a punch as Pascal slipped that appeared to be a knockdown. The referee called it a slip and allowed the action to continue, but it didn't stop Bernard from going back to his right hand.
Another stinging right hand exposed the poor defense of Pascal but Jean would finally land a hook late in the round to attempt to steal the round.
Hopkins still did the better work as Pascal was badly tired by the time the round came to a close.
SB Nation scored the round 10-9 Hopkins. Making the fight 87-84 Hopkins on our card after nine rounds.
