At the Bell Centre in Montreal, the 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins was attempting to become the oldest man to ever win a major boxing championship. Standing in his way was the man he fought to a controversial draw in Decmeber, Jean Pascal.
Both men came out in the tenth round looking to establish their jabs. Pascal would find a left hook and an uppercut early in the round, looking to find some answer to the timing and rough style of Hopkins.
For the second straight round, Hopkins connected with a punch and Pascal slipped, touching his glove to the mat. The ref called it a slip again, but the main takeaway was that Hopkins had Pascal confused and those right hands were catching him offguard if nothing else.
The round ended with both men flurrying but neither man doing any damage.
SB Nation scored the round 10-9 Hopkins. Making the fight 97-93 Hopkins on our card after ten rounds.
