According to Jonathan Snowden, formerly of BloodyElbow.com and now of SB Nation MMA, the proposed superfight between Fedor Emelianeko and Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson is now official:
Sources close to both fighters tell me the Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson fight has been finalized for July 30th in Chicago on Showtime
As Snowden's Tweet indicates, the event will take place in Chicago (likely Hoffman Estates at the Sears Centre) on the initially proposed date of July 30th. The fight will also air on Showtime, thereby pushing back or eliminating proposed plans for an inaugural Strikeforce pay-per-view event.
There is no word yet on what catch weight or in which weightclass this fight will take place. More on this story as it develops.
