Above is the second episode of UFC President, Dana White's UFC 131 video blogs building up to tomorrow's Junior dos Santos vs Shane Carwin headlined card. This episode gives a behind the scenes view of yesterday's UFC 131 pre-fight press conference. Dana White is feeling ill, but he presses on, talks to his fighters and makes every effort to be available to the fans in Vancouver.
The card has been overshadowed by the NHL finals which are being held in Vancouver on Friday. The home town Vancouver Canucks are battling the Boston Bruins for the league title. The Canucks have contended for the Stanley Cup twice before, in 1982 and 1994, but have never taken home the prize. This has, unsurprisingly, significantly impacted interest in UFC 131.
The card was also hurt by the loss of Brock Lesnar, who had originally been booked to cap off his season coaching The Ultimate Fighter opposite Junior dos Santos. Shane Carwin stepped up to replace Lesnar when the ex-champ's diverticulitis flared up, necessitating surgery.
It's the promotion's second trip to Vancouver. They first traveled to British Columbia for UFC 115 featuring former champion Chuck Liddell's last ever fight against Rich Franklin.
