Strikeforce Challengers 17 Fight Card Nearly Complete With Four Bouts Announced

According to a Strikeforce press release, the organization has made official all but one fight for the main card portion of their Strikeforce Challengers 17 event. The fights will take place July 22 at the Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada and will air on Showtime at 11 p.m. ET (delayed on the West Coast). The event will be headlined by a welterweight rubber match between Bobby Voelker and Roger Bowling.

As we previously reported, former Strikeforce women's 135lbs (welterweight) champion Sarah Kaufman will face up-and-comer Liz Carmouche. Just announced today, Lavar Johnson returns to the Strikeforce cage at this event to take on Devin Cole. Rounding out the card will be a middleweight bout between Adlan Amagov and Ronald Stallings. There will be on more bout to air on Showtime as part of this card that has not yet been announced.

"The rubber match between Voelker and Bowling will not only settle the score between the two, but it will also help determine another rising contender in the welterweight division," said Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker. "This event on July 22 is loaded with potentially explosive fights and we're excited to kick off our relationship with the Palms with such a great card."
