The main event of the night and airing on Showtime at Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum is Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum. This is the last quarterfinal of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament. It's also, obviously, a heavyweight fight. This is also a rematch from their 2006 Open Weight Grand Prix in PRIDE. ROUND 3 - Werdum opens with strikes and fails on the takedown attempt. Now Overeem behind Werdum in turtle position. Both fighters stand, yet pulls guard again after taking a hard right hand from Werdum. Overeem working in Werdum's full guard, but now stands out. Right hand from Werdum finds the mark, but now Werdum pulls guard and works from the bottom. Werdum working various attacks from his back, but Overeem stands back out. Overeem clinches and Werdum nearly catches a knee bar at the end of the fight.
