Dana White: Brett Rogers Is Fired 'Immediately'

Stay connected with SB Nation

According to multiple reports, UFC President Dana White has fired Strikeforce heavyweight competitor Brett Rogers effectively immediately. As we reported earlier today, Rogers has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies including third degree assault for allegedly (and rather savagely) beating up his wife.

At this time we have no further comment from White.

The UFC did not immediately fire UFC light heavyweight Tito Ortiz when he was arrested for allegedly assaulting then-girlfriend Jenna Jameson. However, the severity of the allegations between Ortiz and Rogers differ profoundly. The Orange County District Attorney's office later decided not to press charges against Ortiz and for a time, he and Jameson reconciled.

Rogers most recently competed two weeks ago at the second stage of the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix, losing to Josh Barnett by head and arm triangle in the second round. It was his third loss in four fights and his third consecutive loss in Strikeforce.
