TUF 13 Finale Results: Jeremy Stephens Abuses Danny Downes En Route To Decision Win

The sixth fight of the night and airing on Facebook at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale is Danny Downes vs. Jeremy Stephens. This is a lightweight bout, meaning 155lbs. This is Downes' first bout after taking a fight outside of the Zuffa organization. The referee in charge of the action is Steve Mazzagatti.

ROUND 1 - Both fighters standing orthodox, Stephens already doing the stalking. The fighters clinch and jockey for position until Stephens backs up. Hard uppercuts and right hands from Stephens. Outside leg kick from Stephens. Downes lands a knee from a failed takedown attempt from Stephens. The two fighters jockey for position along the fence with Stephens attempting a takedown, but he eventually lets it go. Hard knees now from Stephens. Left straight to the body from Stephens. Left uppercut from Stephens and again presses Downes into the cage. Another hard left uppercut, right hand combo from Stephens. Downes fires an elbow. Left hook from Stephens.

ROUND 2 - Outside leg kick,left hook from Stephens. Stephens runs the pipe and takes Downes to the mat. Downes attempts a guillotine on the way and can't get it. Stephens stands out of the guard, lands a right hand and moves to side control. Stephens locks up a kimura on Downes and it's deep. That is sadistically deep and Downes won't tap. He lets it go and Stephens drills him with two hard elbows. Downes, inexplicably, back to his feet. Downes coming forward with strikes, but eats a hard body kick from Stephens. Uppercut and right hand from Stephens. Right straight from Downes. Stephens turns the corner on a double and takes Downes to the mat, where he quickly passes to side control. Downes eats a hard knee trying to stand.

ROUND 3 - Right straight, left hook, right hook combo from Stephens lands flush. Now Downes is bleeding badly over or next to his left eye. A la Matt Hughes vs. Frank Trigg 2, Stephens scoops Downes, carries him across the Octagon towards his corner and drives him to the mat. Downes stands but eats a hard right hand and now a takedown against the fence. Downes stands but gives his back standing and Stephens gets an angle, drills Downes with a knee. Timing an elbow, Stephens changes levels and takes Downes to the mat. Downes rotating for an arm bar, but Stephens arm nowhere near the position in needs to be for that to work. He gives it up and eats a crushing elbow from Stephens, who then moves to half guard. Stephens moves himself into mount, now takes his back, locks up a bicep grip but can't get the choke.
