The injury bug continues to plague the Ultimate Fighting Championship, seemingly worse this summer than any time in recent memory. Originally slated to face Igor Pokrajac at UFC 131: Carwin vs. dos Santos, Krzysztof Soszynski will now face late-replacement Mike Massenzio instead. The UFC confirmed the news on their website today. To wit:
Light-heavyweight Krzysztof Soszynski has had a change of opponent -- again -- for his UFC 131 bout in Vancouver this Saturday. UFC veteran Mike Massenzio has verbally agreed to take the bout against Soszynski just six days out from the June 11 event, Dana White announced today.
Originally slated to fight Anthony Perosh, who suffered an injury, Soszynski was then expected to fight Igor Pokrajac, who also suffered an injury that forced him to cancel.
The UFC 131 fight card is as follows:
Junior dos Santos vs. Shane Carwin
Kenny Florian vs. Diego Nunes
Demian Maia vs. Mark Munoz
Dave Herman vs. Jon Olav Einemo
Donald Cerrone vs. Vagner Rocha
Sam Stout vs. Yves Edwards
Chris Weidman vs. Jesse Bongfeldt
