UFC 132 Results: Aaron Simpson Decisions Brad Tavares In Clinch Battle

The third fight of the night at UFC 132: Cruz vs. Faber 2 and airing on Facebook is Brad Tavares vs. Aaron Simpson. This is a middleweight fight, meaning 185lbs. Simpson's original opponent was supposed to be Jason Miller, but Miller was moved off the card due to his participation in season 14 of Spike TV's 'The Ultimate Fighter'. The referee in charge of the action is Josh Rosenthal.

ROUND 1 - Tavares lands a body kick, but Simpson uses it to attack with a single leg. Now they clinch against the fence. Simpson attempts a leg ride yank to open Tavares for a takedown, but nothing doing. Simpson still trying to off balance Tavares, but can't get it. Referee Rosenthal breaks them. Both fighters standing orthodox. Tavares nearly lands a right hand as Simpson was out of position. Simpson throws a one-two and reaches for a 50/50 grip. He's now pressing Tavares into the cage. Simpson drags Tavares in a circle and uses it to momentarily get Tavares to the ground, but Tavares stands immediately. Short right from Tavares in the clinch finds the mark.

ROUND 2 - Outside leg kick for Simpson, but he eats a hard right hand counter. A left hand from Tavares drills Simpson. Simpson throws Tavares by and now has a body lock from behind. Simpson transitions to face Tavares, now both pinned against the cage. Now Tavares reverses and he's pressing Simpson into the cage. Simpson gives up a monster slam to Tavares, but Simpson stands immediately. Now he's pressing Tavares into the fence trying for a guillotine, but can't get it. Simpson now grinding on Tavares against the fence.

ROUND 3 - Left hook for Simpson allows him to close distance on Tavares and press him into the cage again. Right hook lands for Tavares when Simpson gets sloppy. Simpson attempts a body lock trip, but a strong whizzer from Tavares negates it. Simpson attempting throw-bys to get behind Tavares. After multiple failed attempts he gets behind Tavares and nearly takes his back. Simpson changes levels quickly for a double, but can't get it. Referee Rosenthal separates them. Big right hand to an outside trip for Simpson lands.
