Above is the audio for today's media call to promote Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson. I won't pretend it was the smoothest conference call to promote a fight I've ever been on. On the call (eventually, anyway) were Dan Henderson, Fedor Emelianenko, Scott Coker, Miesha Tate and Marloes Coenen. Fedor missed approximately half of the call (although not entirely by fault of his own) and some of the non-MMA media covering this bout asked utterly inane questions. Still, I find Henderson's confidence and Cheshire Cat smile to signal he understands the dynamics of his upcoming bout with Fedor that none of us do. Certainly not Fedor, anyway.
Naturally, questions of Fedor's retirement emerged as well. The Russian's answers were fairly deflective, stating it'd be "god's will" whether or not he retires. Strangely, though, he stated he wasn't thinking about future opposition, yet if he wins and feel's healthy, believed he could fight for a few more years.
There wasn't much of note for the other participants on the call. Few questions were asked of Coenen. Tate was asked to follow up on a controversial statement about UFC President Dana White. That's about it.
