UFC veteran Sam Stout (17-6-1) has withdrawn from a scheduled lightweight bout against Dennis Siver (19-7) at UFC 137, as reported by MMAJunkie.com. A replacement opponent has yet to be confirmed. No reason for the withdrawal has been given at this time.
Stout experienced overwhelming heartache earlier in the month of August when his trainer, mentor, and brother-in-law, Shawn Tompkins, passed away from a sudden heart attack at the age of 37.
Known as "Hands of Stone," Stout has garnered a reputation for his exciting, fan-friendly style throughout eleven fights inside the Octagon. The 27-year-old has collected four post-fight bonuses, including his recent fight at UFC 131 where he brutally knocked Yves Edwards out cold in the first round to earn ‘Knockout of the Night.'
UFC 137 is scheduled for October 29th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by a title unification match between UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz.
