Two bouts have officially been selected for broadcast on the "UFC Prelims" special for UFC 137. The one-hour preview will spotlight a lightweight contest, Donald Cerrone (16-3) vs. Dennis Siver (19-7), and a featherweight contest, Bart Palaszewski (35-14) vs. Tyson Griffin (15-5), live on Spike TV. MMAJunkie.com first reported the news.
Cerrone enters the card as a late replacement for Sam Stout, who withdrew for undisclosed reasons. The 28-year-old former-WEC contender aims to get his fourth straight UFC win after notching victories over Paul Kelly, Vagner Rocha, and Charles Oliveira since transferring into the promotion earlier this year.
He faces Siver, a 32-year-old German striker who has won four straight UFC bouts of his own, and seven of his last eight. The Taekwondo black belt has developed a fearsome reputation for exciting performances inside the cage and is one of the few men to collect all three UFC post-fight bonuses, having won ‘Knockout of the Night' (twice), ‘Submission of the Night,' and ‘Fight of the Night.'
Meanwhile, Palaszewski looks to make his Octagon debut after a successful run inside the WEC's lightweight division. The 28-year-old Polish veteran recently had a four-fight win streak snapped after suffering a narrow split decision loss to Kamal Shalorus at WEC 53.
He will battle Griffin, a fan-favorite with a reputation for delivering non-stop action. The 27-year-old Xtreme Couture representative has won four ‘Fight of the Night' bonuses and recently snapped a three-fight losing streak by defeating Manny Gamburyan in a return to the featherweight division.
UFC 137 is slated for October 29th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card is headlined by a bout between Georges St. Pierre and Carlos Condit for the UFC welterweight championship.
