Rising prospect Francis Carmont (16-7) is the latest fighter to join the ranks of the UFC, according to reports from MMAJunkie.com. The 29-year-old Frenchman reportedly signed a multi-fight contract with the promotion and is slated to make his debut at UFC 137. Terms of the deal were not released. No opponent has been announced.
Carmont enters into the Octagon on the heels of a five-fight win streak capped by a first-round knockout over UFC-veteran Jason Day in June. Known as "Limitless," the Tristar Gym representative trains alongside such noted fighters as UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and up-an-comer Rory MacDonald. Carmont has fought at light heavyweight throughout his entire seven-year career, but soon plans to make his middleweight debut.
UFC 137 is headlined by a bout between St. Pierre and Carlos Condit for the UFC welterweight belt. The event is scheduled for October 29th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
