The UFC will return to Buffalo for the first time in nearly 22 years on Saturday, and they’re doing it in a big way. UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will put his belt on the line against Anthony “Rumble” Johnson in a rematch of their UFC 187 match in May 2015.
It’s one of the most-anticipated matches in a long time, and will headline a packed card on Saturday. The main card will be broadcast on traditional pay-per-view, with online viewing options available via the UFC YouTube channel and various UFC apps on connected devices capable of streaming.
Said main card will begin at 10 p.m. ET. The preliminary card begins at 6:15 p.m. and will be streamed on UFC Fight Pass. At 8 p.m., Fox Sports 1 will carry televised coverage of the remaining preliminary matches prior to the pay-per-view.
Cormier and Johnson were originally expected to fight at UFC 206, but the champion had to pull out with a groin injury. Since beating Johnson by submission in the first match, Cormier went on to defend his title in a split decision win over Alexander Gustafsson and faced legend Anderson Silva in a non-title bout.
Johnson forged his path back to a title challenge with three consecutive knockouts, dusting all of Jimi Manuwa, Ryan Bader and most recently, Glover Teixeira. The bout against Teixeira was the most striking, with Johnson scoring a knockout just 13 seconds into the opening round.
The card will also include an anticipated middleweight bout between former champion Chris Weidman and Gegard Mousasi. The latter fighter was outside of the UFC for a long time, but has been doing well for himself since joining the organization. Weidman may be his toughest fight yet, though.
Myles Jury and Mike De La Torre will headline the preliminary card with a featherweight bout. A featured lightweight showdown between Will Brooks and Charles Oliveira will kickstart the main card, followed by a welterweight match between Thiago Alves and Patrick Cote.
