Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir Results:
Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir was set to take place Nov. 3, 2012 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma before the announcement was made that the event would be cancelled.
Cormier became the Strikeforce heavyweight champion after defeating fellow tournament finalist and PRIDE veteran Josh Barnett on May 19, 2012 at Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier.
It was rumored that Cormier would face former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia, but those rumbles were put to rest when UFC President Dana White announced Sylvia was not signed under Zuffa.
On Sept. 19, 2012 it was announced that challenger Frank Mir had suffered an injury and was forced to withdraw from the title bout with Cormier.
Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, who was slated to square off with Lorenz Larkin, was also removed from the event's lineup after suffering an injury.
In addition to Mir and Rockhold, Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann was also forced to withdraw from her bout with Liz Carmouche after suffering an injury.
