UFC returns to Japan with an event slated for the Saitama Super Arena on Feb. 26, 2012. The event will air on pay-per-view in North America and WOWOW in Japan.

UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will face No. 1 contender Benson Henderson in the night's main event. Japanese fighters Norifumi Yamamoto, Takeya Mizugaki, Yushin Okami, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Takanori Gomi, Hatsu Hioki and Riki Fukuda serve as the native talent on the fight card.

The scale of the event is still unclear, but it is slated for the usual Saturday night time slot for Western viewers. Preliminary bouts are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. local time while the remainder of the card takes place from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The UFC’s Japanese debut dates back to Dec. 21, 1997 with the promotion's 'Ultimate Japan' heavyweight tournament event, which saw MMA legend Randy Couture score a decision victory over Maurice Smith to become heavyweight champion.
