UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos was originally set to make his first title defense against No. 1 contender and former DREAM and Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem, but following a pre-fight drug test flagged for elevated levels of testosterone.

On Apr. 20, UFC president Dana White announced that Overeem would be pulled from the main event of UFC 146 and that former heavyweight champion Frank Mir would face dos Santos for the UFC heavyweight title.

Mir was originally set to face former champion Cain Velasquez in a fight to decide the next heavyweight No. 1 contender.
