Wilson Reis was one of the star fighters for the now defunct EliteXC promotion where he became the promotion's first and only bantamweight champion.

With a career mark of 6-0 Reis joined Bellator Fighting Championships where he participated in their first season featherweight tournament. Despite being the favorite by most, Reis would lose in the semi-finals to Joe Soto. In season two he would once again come up short in the tournament, this time Patricio "Pitbull" Freire beat him by decision.
