Updated 7:00 a.m. EDT - Adding threat of showers to Sunday
Warm temperatures will continue today as highs will be in the mid 80s it will also be mostly sunny. A cold front will work through Saturday night into Sunday morning. This will bring colder temperatures for Sunday with highs maybe not reaching 70.
This cold front is now expected to stall just to the south as a upper level disturbance develops across the south and southeastern United States. This will allow for some instability in the atmosphere. I am still optimistic that most of the race is dry if not all but as we get into the second half of the race the chances of an isolated or scattered shower begin to increase.
From all that I have seen Dover is on the most northern fringe of the area expected to see a few showers late Sunday afternoon. This may be our saving grace. I will tell you forecast that begin to show major changes at the last minute tend to be the most difficult. I will keep you updated when new data becomes available.
Saturday:
10:30 a.m EDT – Nationwide qualifying – Sunny - temp: 81
12:30 p.m EDT – Sprint Cup Practice – Sunny - temp: 84
1:50 p.m EDT – Sprint Cup Final Practice – Sunny - temp: 85
3:00 p.m EDT – Nationwide Race – Sunny - temp: 85
Sunday:
1:00 p.m EDT – Sprint Cup Race – Mostly cloudy, poss. shower later in the race - temp: 68
