Brian Scott Takes Exception To Kenny Wallace's Tweets

Is it an insult to say a driver got his ride because of money?

If you don't give that driver enough credit for his talent, it can be.

Kenny Wallace found that out Monday night on Twitter, when his tweets about Brian Scott's future apparently offended Scott.

Scott, who is on pace to win the Nationwide Rookie of the Year award this season, had been released from his ride at Braun Racing/Turner Motorsports earlier Monday.

But Wallace predicted both Scott and Trevor Bayne (also rideless) would return to the Nationwide Series soon (Scott is reportedly in discussions with Joe Gibbs Racing).

He tweeted:

@kenny_wallace: MY THOUGHTS..Trevor Bayne is a good driver, He will get a ride Imediately!..Brian Scotts dad is wealthy he will BUY a ride Imediately..

And that was just the start of it.

Star-divide

@kenny_wallace: Oh!..One last thought!..Sing a long with me..MONEY MONEY MONEY!..ha ha ha ha!..Awwww SHIT!..Having Talent to get a ride days are over!

@kenny_wallace: Oh Stop it everyone!..Yall nit pic every damn thing i say...Ok they both are Great Drivers..One has more Money than the other..Hows that?

Upon reading the tweets, Scott wasn't thrilled with Wallace's evaluation of how he reached this point in his career.

@bscottracing: Jees @kenny_wallace thanks for all the kind words... Not! You should maybe give me a chance or get to know me first... Your choice.

Wallace seemed (at least on Twitter) to be taken aback by Scott's comments. He tweeted to his followers that it was "wimpy to get mad about that" and said "some of you need to understand NASCAR."

@kenny_wallace: Some of y'all are full of shit..He will get a ride because of his fathers money!...What's wrong with that?..That's how you get a chance!.

@kenny_wallace: Listen people!...There are a Shit Load of drivers that are in Nascar because they have money!..what I am saying is that's what it takes.

But Scott wasn't having it. He reposted Wallace's original quote about Scott's father buying a ride and inferred that Wallace's line of thinking wasn't giving him enough credit.

@bscottracing: I'm just saying @kenny_wallace I've never taken a cheap shot at you, just wondering why u felt it necessary on me?

@bscottracing: This really isn't drama nor am I upset about what @kenny_wallace said. I'm merely curious why he chose to say it the way he did. Clearly I must have mistreated him?

Wallace quickly moved to clarify his stance (or backtrack, depending on your point of view).

@kenny_wallace: I figured you all already knew Brian was talented...I thought because he has money...He will get a ride Quickly..And he will..

That was enough for Scott to extend the olive branch and end the debate (at least publicly).

@bscottracing: Hey @Kenny_Wallace let's go get a hot chocolate and talk about racing, not drama. Just seeing if I did or said something that cause u to feel like I was nothing other than financially privileged :-) deal?

Tweeted Wallace:

@kenny_wallace: That's a deal

Hmmm

Wonder how Kenny feels about the fact that his nephew, Steven, only has a ride because of his name and that his dad owns the team.

Kenny said so..

(That Kenny has a ride) because of his brother Rusty (who he calls God). That all was part of the Twitter banter as well…

Kenny Is Right

 I have to agree with Kenny and I think Jeff Gluck could back this up but I bet 20% of the drivers in the garage(Cup, Nationwide, Camping West) have rides because of money and most of it is coming from their dads. John Wes Townley, Paul Menard and Brian Scott are examples. ’m sure another 20% get their rides because they have exclusive contracts with sponsors like Kevin Conway. Another example would be Mike Wallace. He had a deal with Geico. They paid him and Wallace paid a team for their ride.

Talent is gone in almost all forms of racing and it has come down to who has the money.
