For Sunday, I expect the bulk of the morning into the afternoon to feature more clouds than sun with temperatures mostly in the upper sixties to just near seventy. Morning should be mostly dry but by midday and early afternoon there could be a few scattered or isolated showers in the area. The threat of rain continues to increase through the afternoon and into the evening.
The forecast models have been all over the place, going from a mostly dry afternoon twenty-four hours ago, to a mostly wet afternoon and then back again to dry this evening, my confidence in them is very low.
THE LIKELIHOOD OF...
Race starting on time - 75% to 80%
Getting to halfway - 50% to 70%
Completing all 400 miles WITHOUT any rain delay - 40% to 50%
Completing all 400 miles WITH a rain delay - 50% to 70%
SUNDAY:
2:00 p.m EDT
Sprint Cup Race – Cloudy skies, still cool, possible shower or thunderstorm. Threat of rain increases through the afternoon – temp: 68
I wish I had a more iron clad forecast for you. Timing is going to be everything thing. If the rain arrives as the National Weather Service is predicting it will not be a fun afternoon. If the forecast models from Friday night and Saturday night verify then we have a really good shot of getting the race in and complete. Bottom line, the radar will need to be watched all morning and afternoon.
