The 96th running of the Indianapolis 500 is just under two weeks away, but the field for the race will be set this week. Two days of practice have already taken place and the teams will have three more days to get their cars running in top shape before qualifying. Practice runs every day through Thursday.
Friday is Fast Friday, the precursor to pole day. Unlike the previous days of practice, the driver with the fastest lap time on Fast Friday will earn a cash prize. On Saturday, the drivers compete for the pole position, leading into Sunday's Bump Day. By the time the clock runs out on Bump Day, the 33-car field will be set for the 2012 Indy 500, which takes place on May 27.
You can find a complete schedule of events and over information on the race at the official website of the Indy 500.
