Rookie driver Bryan Clauson crashed his Hartman Honda at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday as the field conducted qualifications for the Indy 500. Clauson lost control of his car on the third lap of a four-lap qualifying run, spinning into the outside wall after coming through the first turn on the final lap. It was the first crash of the week at the Speedway.
Clauson was taken to the the medical center on the infield for attention, but is apparently OK, according to team owner Sarah Fisher. Clauson did issue a statement after the wreck, and he seems to be optimistic, via Zak Keefer of the Indy Star:
"We had a great run, it just got away from us and the car snapped around," said Clauson. "We'll put (the backup car) together and get out there tomorrow and give it our best shot."
