2012 Indy 500 Weather Forecast: Feel More Like August Than May

Rain won't be a problem this year for the Indianapolis 500, it will be the heat. As I was putting together this weekend's forecast, I felt like I was forecasting for the NASCAR Brickyard 400 rather than the Indianapolis 500.

Large area of high pressure is going to dominate the eastern third of the United States for the next several day. This will keep the forecast mostly dry but also provide lots of heat to the Midwest and the Ohio Valley.

Hottest Indianapolis 500 on record was set back on May 31, 1937 with a temperature of 92, we could easily tie if not break that record this Sunday. My forecast high is 93 for Sunday afternoon.
