With Sunday's Indy 500 race time quickly approaching, it is time to take a closer look at how the drivers will begin the race. Nine of the the first 10 cars in the starting grid are using Chevrolet engines, including all six cars in the first two rows.
Team Penske's Ryan Briscoe won the pole during last week's qualifying and he will be joined on the front row by a pair of Andretti Autosport teammates, James Hinchcliffe and Ryan Hunter-Reay. A third Andretti Autosport team member, Marco Andretti, will start on the inside of row two. Andretti will be joined by Will Power and Helio Castroneves, both Team Penske drivers.
Josef Newgarden, the only driver in the top 10 without a Chevy engine, will start the Indy 500 on the inside of row three. Teammates Tony Kanaan and E.J. Viso will join Newgarden on the third row. Other notable drivers include previous Indy 500 winners Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti. Dixon will start on the outside of row five while Franchitti will start on the inside of row six.
