The Pocono 400 wasn't the only thing NASCAR drivers were competing in this weekend, as voting for Round One of the "Drive for the Cover" campaign ended Sunday.
In a bracket-style tournament where fans voted via Facebook as to which driver will grace the cover of the upcoming video game NASCAR The Game: Inside Line, 16 drivers moved on to Round Two.
The three most contested battles featured the Brothers Busch battling it out — with Kyle ultimately getting by his older brother, Kurt; a quasi-replay of the aforementioned Pocono 400, which saw Mark Martin turning the tables on Joey Logano to claim the win in their respective head-to-head matchup; and Greg Biffle pulling off the biggest upset to squeeze by Jimmie Johnson by the slimmest of margins -- a mere one percent.
Officials are still looking at the tape to see whether Martin used the bump-and-run to score the win over Logano or simply took the air off of his spoiler.
Looking at the pairings for the second round there are plenty of fascinating storylines to keep an eye on:
- It is mentor versus student as Dale Earnhardt Jr. is squaring off against Martin Truex Jr., the man who used to driver for him in the Nationwide Series.
- In a rematch of last year's epic championship battle that came down to the final lap, Tony Stewart will go against Carl Edwards.
- A pair of former series champs who share an interesting and heated past sees Jeff Gordon opposing Matt Kenseth.
- And in what will likely be the most hotly contested clash, Kyle Busch has drawn the very popular Danica Patrick has his next opponent.
The complete Round Two matchups are as follows:
Dale Earnhardt Jr. vs. Martin Truex Jr.
Kyle Busch vs. Danica Patrick
Tony Stewart vs. Carl Edwards
Denny Hamlin vs. Marcos Ambrose
Greg Biffle vs. Mark Martin
Kasey Kahne vs. Kevin Harvick
