NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers are finally on track under sunny skies at Pocono Raceway following a downpour that delayed the start of the Pennsylvania 400 by more than an hour and a half.
But with more rain lurking in the area and a long line of storms approaching, today's race is a dash to halfway.
Unlike previous years, drivers will only need to make it to 200 miles before the halfway point (Pocono shortened its races from 500 to 400 miles this season). But with weather headed toward the track, it seems doubtful even halfway could happen.
NASCAR waved the green flag at 2:58 Eastern time. The originally scheduled green-flag time was 1:12 p.m.
There will be a competition caution at lap 20 of today's race. Drivers will need to work together to make sure they don't wreck and unnecessarily slow down the pace of the race if they want to reach the halfway point today (which would make it an official race).
