NASCAR At Dover 2012 Race Day Weather Forecast: Slight Chance Of Scattered Showers

Stay connected with SB Nation

There's just a slight chance of a hit or miss shower today for Dover International Speedway and the NASCAR Sprint Cup race. Although showers remain in the forecast, there is more dry time than wet.

A storm system remains stalled over the Great Lakes keeping the atmosphere over the Mid-Atlantic slightly unstable. A cool pool of air will settle over the region this afternoon. Combine that with some afternoon sunshine and a scattered to isolated shower is possible during the afternoon.

This activity will be more miss than hit but it only takes one well placed light rain shower to cause a minor delay or even a red flag. Although a stray shower is possible it seems unlikely we will have to much of a weather problem today.

FORECAST TODAY: Partly sunny skies, cool westerly wind between 3 and 8 miles per hour, with an isolated to scattered shower in the afternoon. Expect most of the day and afternoon to remain dry. Afternoon temperatures near 70.
