NASCAR Sonoma 2013 schedule: Can Jimmie Johnson keep the lead in Sonoma?

USA TODAY Sports

It's been three years since Johnson last won the road race in Sonoma, and the unpredictable course could open the door for Carl Edwards.

NASCAR returns to Sonoma, Calif., for the 25th race at one of the Sprint Cup's premier road courses. In recent years, this unpredictable event has shown it can turn the leaderboard on its head, but Jimmie Johnson will look to retain his grip on the top of the standings. Here is your full schedule of events this weekend.

Johnson holds a 31-point lead over Carl Edwards, but that could change this weekend. He last won at Sonoma in 2010, and has two top-ten finishes in each of the last two years. Meanwhile, Edwards finished third last year — but doesn't have a great history on the track, totaling only three top-ten results in eight races.

Each of the last eight years has seen a different winner at Sonoma, which should lead to to some excellent racing on Sunday. This is your full weekend schedule. All times are Eastern:

Friday, June 21

3 p.m. — NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Practice
5 p.m. — NASCAR Pro Series West Final Practice
6:30 p.m. — NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Final Practice

Saturday, June 22

12:30 p.m. — NASCAR Pro Series West Qualifying
2:05 p.m. — NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Qualifying
4 p.m. — NASCAR Pro Series West Race (64 Laps)

Sunday, June 23

3 p.m. — Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race (110 laps)
