NASCAR standings 2013: Chase for the Sprint Cup field set

Matt Kenseth finished the NASCAR regular season atop the Sprint Cup standings.

The NASCAR regular season is in the books, and the field for the Chase for the Sprint Cup is set. Matt Kenseth will be the top seed after jumping up five spots and knocking long-time leader Jimmie Johnson off his perch.

Carl Edwards won the final race of the regular season in Richmond on Saturday night, putting him in fifth in the standings. Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick round out the top five.

There was some drama at Richmond involving the final slot in the Chase field. Martin Truex Jr. nabbed the 12th and final spot, winning a tiebreaker over Ryan Newman. This came after Clint Bowyer spun out with seven laps to go while Newman was leading. Bowyer and Truex are teammates, and there was some suspicion that Bowyer spun out on purpose in order to help Truex attain that final spot.

Here are the final regular season standings with the 12 Chase qualifiers. The full standings can be found at
