2014 NASCAR at Texas: Rain delay weather update, can we race tonight?

Rain has delayed the start of the Duck Commander 500. Will the threat of rain diminish in time to allow NASCAR to race this evening?

UPDATE: Start Delayed

The Duck Commander 500 remains in a rain delay at Texas Motor Speedway. It has been wet all day over the Dallas/ Fort Worth area and while the rain has diminished significantly on radar, the wetness remains a problem. Track drying has been slow thanks to the lack of sunlight and the damp, cool conditions. The question everyone wants answered is, will we race tonight or Monday?

After the Bristol race where all forecasts pointed to no racing, NASCAR got a window and managed to go racing. While the rain is still expected to diminish this evening around 8 p.m. CT, I'm not sure that's enough time for NASCAR to get the track dried so they can go racing tonight. Earlier I had the chance of racing at 60 percent -- realistically it may now be more like 35 percent. Although not as optimistic, it's at least a chance.

Despite all the rain that NASCAR has had to endure this season, there has yet to be a Monday race. Earlier I didn't think a Monday race was going to happen, but now it's in play. The weather forecast for Monday is drier than today but still has a chance of showers and storms, especially in the afternoon. It will be warmer as highs reach the mid to upper 60s.
