This is a pretty funny concept, and whoever came up with it needs a promotion.
SPEED filmed a segment for its Trackside show in which spotters Mike Calinoff (Matt Kenseth's spotter), Chris Lambert (Denny Hamlin) and Joey Meier (Brad Keselowski) "carpooled" together to Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Lambert and Meier wore headsets during the ride and spotted for the driver, who in this case was Calinoff. Here's the video:
The Andretti family may be racing royalty, but the Indianapolis 500 doesn't care. Not since 1969 when Mario Andretti won has the family tasted victory at the Brickyard, with the family going 0-for-66 in combined attempts from Mario's sons Michael and Jeff, nephew John and grandson Marco Andretti.
In fact, Marco, in his seventh Indy 500 start, couldn't even finish this year's race, wrecking with just 12 laps to go when he was eighth place. Marco led early in the race and was among the leaders all day before his frustrating crash, which you can see below the jump.
In a sport where cutoffs and tank tops are the standard uniform for spectators, it doesn't take much to be recognized as the best dressed man at the racetrack. Even so, Joey Logano raised the bar with his fire suit for Saturday's History 300 Nationwide race:
And here it is... Maybe the coolest driver suit ever. Thanks @hitman! @joeylogano looks awesome. twitter.com/gamestopracing…

If you haven't seen the video of GP3 driver Conor Daly going airborne at Monaco today, check out this replay.
It's amazing to think he wasn't injured and all of the safety workers escaped unharmed. Certainly, though, it was a close call as you can see by the video below:
NASCAR's longest-serving pit reporter will hang up his microphone after next weekend's race at Dover.
Dick Berggren, the beloved FOX Sports reporter who has been a fixture on NASCAR broadcasts since 1981, is planning to retire when FOX's portion of the Sprint Cup Series schedule concludes. Berggren turns 70 on Sunday.
NASCAR penalized the No. 2 team of Nationwide Series title contender Elliott Sadler on Tuesday, docking the Richard Childress Racing team six points in the series standings.
Until Monday, every time I'd raced go-karts involved putting down the fastest lap time possible -- no matter where everyone finished on the track -– and then comparing times with my friends.
I'd never actually "raced" the karts, though. That changed when NASCAR's A.J. Allmendinger and Indy 500 pole-sitter Ryan Briscoe –- who both drive for Penske Racing –- captained a media go-karting challenge Monday in Charlotte.
Here are five things I learned from the experience:
We're seeing a lot of various opinions on Twitter about the new format NASCAR used this year for the Sprint All-Star Race.
So we gotta ask:
NASCAR stars Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Danica Patrick are among the "World's 50 Most Marketable Athletes," according to research conducted by SportsPro Media.
A vocal group of fans was upset after Fox spent a significant amount of time talking about Danica Patrick during Saturday night's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Darlington.
Patrick, who finished six laps down in 31st place, received plenty of attention for making just her second Cup start on a very difficult racetrack -- and some fans didn't like it.
But Fox NASCAR analyst Darrell Waltrip said the coverage was mostly warranted.
