NBA Draft Rumors: Hornets Considering Tyler Zeller At No. 10

The New Orleans Hornets are considering UNC center Tyler Zeller with the No. 10 pick of the 2012 NBA Draft, sources tell the New Orleans Times-Picayune. The Hornets are in need of a big man after trading Emeka Okafor to the Washington Wizards last week.

Coupled with the expected selection of Kentucky power forward Anthony Davis with the first overall pick, New Orleans would be giving its frontcourt a major (and much-needed) infusion of talent. Zeller was the 2012 ACC Player of the Year and a second team All-American after averaging 16.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for the Tar Heels last season.

With Okafor gone and Chris Kaman not expected to re-sign, Zeller could potentially see a lot of minutes in New Orleans if selected. Jason Smith and Gustavo Ayon are the only other players on the roster who spent any significant time at center.

Zeller worked out for the Hornets on June 4, along with Illinois' Meyers Leonard, Mississippi State's Arnett Moultrie and Kentucky's Terrence Jones.
