NBA Rumors: New Orleans Hornets Open To Trading Their 'Other' Draft Pick

Stay connected with SB Nation

The New Orleans Hornets lucked out and won the lottery last month, giving them the first choice in the upcoming 2012 NBA Draft. The NBA-owned team also holds the No. 10 pick in their possession due to the Chris Paul trade, but the latest rumors indicate that choice might be on the move once again.

The No. 10 pick, originally owned by the Timberwolves before it was rerouted to the Clippers and then the Hornets, is quite the luxury for New Orleans considering the depth of the draft. It makes sense, then, that general manager Dell Demps answered questions regarding a trade of the pick with "Yes, we will if it makes sense,'' according to the Times Picayune.

That trade comes with a caveat, however, says the story.

According to league sources, the Hornets are not expected to make any decisions regarding trades until after the NBA's Board of Governors approve the sale of the franchise to Saints owner Tom Benson, which is expected to happen later this month.

It really makes things interesting when the NBA owns one of its teams, doesn't it?
