The NBA preseason is usually a time for NBA coaches to experiment with different lineup combinations, defensive formations and offensive sets. The games don't count, and the players need something to break up the monotony.↵
But last night, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich took things a step further. With his Spurs trailing by two points late in their preseason game against the Clippers, Popovich decided to experiment with having someone else coach the team. Specifically, he decided to experiment with having a player -- Manu Ginobili -- do his job. Coach Ginobili designed the game's final play, and it worked.
That's actually a pretty well-designed play. Maybe the Clippers will call him and have him replace Vinny Del Negro. He has the same amount of experience, after all.↵
