Jeff Green is out of action for the Boston Celtics due to an unknown medical issue.
Jeff Green is back with the Boston Celtics on a one-year deal for the 2011-12 season, but he's been held out of action to date ... and no one seems to know why. According to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald, Green flew to Cleveland with team president Danny Ainge on Friday to receive further testing for the mystery ailment.
In recent comments, even Boston coach Doc Rivers seemed to be out of the loop on what was keeping Green out of action. The Celtics tip off the regular season on December 25 against the New York Knicks, and Green is a critical reserve at small forward.
Rivers told the media that the team will likely announce the course of action for Green on Saturday. The C's open their two-game preseason schedule on the road against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.
